Summer project.

The plan was to turn a page, start off on the right foot and work like a slave… This project has kicked that idea out the window.

A brief requiring a 3D Narrative based around six walls has been issued, such a broad idea I’ve no clue where to begin researching or drawing inspiration from. A few things pop to mind, but still… This is a toughie.

My friend showed me this. This is beautiful. The graphics and illustrations and the animation as a whole is amazing. The background noise in the secretly-recorded sound clip is brilliant. It has ‘texture’, and lots of it. Check the credits.

Fool proof. Apparently I’m a fool, it has been rather difficult. An hours observational work in one place, no moving and no copping off early. I sat in Canary Wharf’s Jubilee Park on a sunny Saturday and had a strange experience of not seeing a single suit, just lots of young families and picnics. This made me choose to divide my time. I spent half an hour in the same spot, popping the occasional maki. I then returned to the exact same spot on Wednesday, which was gloomy to say the least. Ben made crude remarks about Sophie and apparently that other guy is a prick, to write a few things which were spoken… not a picnic blanket or a wee sweet munching bebe in sight. Lovely lovely contrast. This has lead me to create a publication of two halves, mimicking the experience I had, and mixing the two uses/age groups. Child vs. Businessman. Lets see.

These are photographs (admitted awful ones) of Mauro Perucchetti’s work, and what wonderful work it is too. Bright colours, glinting crystals and just overall pretty lovely to look at.

This is a painting, Bob Dylan made it. I saw it at the Halcyon Gallery on Bruton Street, Mayfair. Take a chance on Bob, they go for as little as £65,000 a pop.

SpRiNg bReAk! Or a month off with more work than usual. Three projects to start and complete. Actually I lie, I’ve started two out the three. They are as follows…

Design a dictionary - I started this already, unsure which path to stumble down as of yet. Maybe some kind of rejuvenation, or blast from the past, or variations of the current and elite OED. We’ll see, won’t we.

Essay - I started this too. Futurism, it’s well interesting. Lots of ‘facets’ to explore and write about. Amazing. I’m not too sure how many times I’ve written ‘manifesto’ in that document either, I might count.

Fool Proof - I think that’s what it’s called anyway. I’ve not started this one yet. Best excuse to sit and people watch, seeing as that is what it is based on. So it says to sit in one place for an hour and watch/write/draw how the space is being used for a whole hour. I’m feeling a sunny day, flask of coffee and Moleskine. Got it down.

Final crit on the Unknown Land project. A combination of digitally produced and printed posters sat next to our handcrafted letterpress typeface, and our (also handcrafted) book. Done and dusted.

So we made this book, “Manifesto for Movement”, which had a basic outline of each section we created to form a way of living. It was clever shit, these are some photographs of the book, and a hefty book it is.
